WARRIOR & FAMILY FAQ PAGE
We See You
We know how much you’re carrying right now, and we’re standing in strength with you.
Cancer Cartel provides one time financial assistance to help cancer Warriors cover everyday living expenses during treatment.
Due to overwhelming national demand, we’ve created this page to answer the most common questions and help you navigate next steps quickly.
We kindly ask that you review the information below before reaching out, as it answers most questions we receive.
We are a very small volunteer team responding to a nationwide need, and this allows us to serve as many Warriors as possible.
Who is eligible for a Cancer Cartel grant?
To be considered:
You must be a current cancer patient or within 12 months of completing treatment
Your application must be submitted by a social worker, case manager, or patient navigator directly employed by a hospital or cancer treatment center
You must provide official documentation from your physician confirming diagnosis
Can I apply for myself or a family member?
No. Applications must be submitted by a qualified member of your care team.
If you are seeking assistance, we recommend reaching out to:
Your oncology social worker
A case manager at your treatment center
A patient navigator within your hospital system
They will be able to determine eligibility and submit on your behalf.
When does the application portal open?
The application portal opens on the first business day of each month at 9:00 AM Pacific Time and typically fills within just a few minutes.
Because of this, we strongly encourage connecting with your care team in advance so they are ready to apply when the portal opens.
What does my care team need to apply?
Your care team will need:
Full legal name
Mailing address
Phone number and email
Cancer diagnosis and date of diagnosis
Confirmation of active treatment or treatment within the past 12 months
Area of greatest financial need
A PDF diagnosis sheet or official documentation from your physician
How much financial assistance is provided?
Cancer Cartel provides one time, unrestricted financial assistance of $1,000 to help cover everyday living expenses such as:
Housing
Utilities
Groceries
Transportation
Funds are issued directly to the Warrior.
Can I apply more than once?
No. Cancer Cartel provides one time assistance per Warrior so that we can support as many individuals and families as possible.
How long does it take to hear back?
Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis.
Due to the volume of requests and our funding model, processing may take up to 90 days.
If a grant is awarded, we will notify your care team professional directly, and they will contact you.
Can I email or message to speed up my application?
No. Reaching out via email or social media does not expedite the process.
All applications are reviewed fairly and in the order received.
What if I need help right now?
We understand the urgency behind many of these requests.
Because our program is limited and highly competitive, we strongly encourage reaching out to local resources, including:
Hospital social work departments
Local nonprofit organizations
Community assistance programs
Faith based organizations in your area
These resources are often able to provide more immediate support.
A Final Note
We know how exhausting it is to juggle treatment and bills, and we truly wish we could assist every Warrior immediately. While we can’t promise support to everyone, we’re doing all we can to expand our reach and respond to the growing national need. You are not alone. We see you, and we care deeply about what you’re facing.
